April Happenings, Easter

I'm so behind on a blog post, it's getting a bit ridiculous.  We've had a lot going on this month.  First, I have some Easter pictures and videos to post, it was also Luke's first birthday on the 3rd and Kevin's 39th on the 12th.  Plus Mimi and Tia came out to visit and we took a detour to Palm Springs.  Whew, April has been busy and fun.
Wyatt did a great job dyeing eggs.  He still asks to color eggs if he ever sees me making hard boiled eggs on the stove.

We went to the Eggstravaganza in Santee, the Saturday before Easter.  Wyatt had fun participating in all the booths.  Here he is frosting a cookie.

So happy with the finished product, man that's a lot of sprinkles.

Our neighbor had a bunny just like this, Wyatt loved it.

Luke mostly spent his day searching the grass for trash.  He requested a metal detector for Easter.

There was a fire truck on site, the guys let the kids climb up into the seat.

The night before Easter we went out to the yard to plant the magic seeds "jelly beans", Easter morning they grew into a sucker.  It was a big hit.

Easter morning when we all got up, we went on a hunt through the house to find our baskets.

The funny glasses make a return this year.

Luke got some maracas in his basket.

I really wanted some cute Easter pictures of the boys in their church clothes, but of course we were running late in the morning and by the time we got home after church, they were toast.  Here's my attempt at Easter pics.

"Please stop this madness and put me to bed!"
After they woke up from their nap, we had a hunt in the back yard.

I didn't want to stuff the eggs full of treats, so I stuffed them full of plastic farm animals and Wyatt and Luke got a farm from the Easter bunny, they were stoaked.

"Wow, did you look in here?"

Nana Comes To Visit and a Little Luck Is Here

Nana came to visit for a few days, we were lucky that it was beautiful weather and we had a great time outdoors most days.

We headed over to a local outdoor mall for a little egg hunt.  Wyatt was very quick and polite, only taking the eggs in his immediate area.

He really liked the bunny.

Just messing around the backyard...

and the house.

We all hiked Cowels Mountain a little ways, Wyatt did great, he even wanted to go further than we did.

We also went to the bay for a day, it was perfect weather and we managed to squeeze all the morning we could out of the day before we had to head back in the afternoon for naps.

This picture of Luke reminds me of a picture of Wyatt when he was about 8 months old in Sedona, he's wearing the same shirt and has his back to the camera looking at a river.

Put me down Nana, I want in the water now!

We made Easter sugar cookies.

More backyard time, this time with the sprinklers on.  As you can see Wyatt was not too thrilled in this picture, I think he was mad about something to do with Nana using his sprinkler, that and I'm sure it was close to nap time.

Yep, there it is Nana taunting him.  Look the evil on her face!

Growing out of his britches, it's too soon, I can't believe he's almost one.

Of course, Luke with his cars.

Nana got Luke an early birthday present, a car of his own, until...

Wyatt saw it.  He thought it was his own.

After Nana left, we still had lots of fun backyard time, Luke's just itching to get outside with his big brother, I just need to find him some pants first.

We got some birdseed from the store and made a feeder, Wyatt insisted on having "noculars" to see the birds five feet from us, so I improvised.

This is a rare sight in San Diego, I woke up one morining a few days before St. Patrick's Day and there was a beautiful rainbow, I got so excited I had to take a picture.  Wyatt saw me and asked if I was looking for the gold, I forgot, it was almost St. Patty's Day.  Yes, Wyatt the leperchaun probably is hiding his pot of gold right now.

We got up Sunday morning and saw a note from the leperchaun leading us to his pot of gold and he left green milk, that was a hit!

Wyatt had a dance performance at his school, Kevin and I both headed over to watch him perform.  At the last minute he decided he wanted no part of that, so here he is watching his friends perform. He clapped along and enjoyed the show from the cheap seats.

His good buddy Max joined him later, it was very cute.

Spread A Little Love

We've been having so much fun with Valentine's Day this year.  Kevin and I celebrated on Saturday with a night out to Nicolosis, our local Italain joint, it was delicious, we haven't had Italian in months.  We made some fun decorations for the house and I threw a brunch party for my friends and their kids.  There must have been about 20 kids all under the age of five running around the house.  Luckily, it was a beautiful day and they were mostly running around the backyard.  We played pin the stinger on the bee from the Bee Mine card Mimi and Tia sent, decoarted sugar heart cookies, and made cards.  Unfortunatley it was so chaotic, I didn't take any pictures, ugh, where's Kevin when I need him, he's so great with the camera.  Here are some pictures of the kids though throughout the past week or so.

The boys got up way too early one Sunday, so I decided to make them a race track with painter's tape, I must say it was a hit, they played for a few hours and I snoozed on the Lazy Boy.

Did I tell you it was a fast track...ZOOM!

Bella's kennel is one of Luke's favorite places to play.

Luke:  Hey Wyatt let me in...

Wyatt:  Never

One big, giant card.

One morning I hear Luke making some guttural animal noise.  I couldn't find him for a minute, then I did.  Ya, he was stuck.  Apparently he went in for a ball and couldn't get back out.

How am I supposed to get anything done around here?

Luke has been really making some progress lately.  He's started to sign milk and he's standing on his own, he has also taken a few steps backwards.  Of course, I can never get these happenings on camera, here's my attempt to get him to sign, he does for a second, if you pay close attention.

Here's my attempt to get him to stand on camera...not happening, especially with the little rascal Wyatt getting involved.  Plus they both try to take my eyes out.

It's finally warm!  It has been freakishly cold here, I'm talking 50s, that is weird, and rainy.  I got so excited for spring a few days ago Wyatt and I went out front while Luke was napping and we painted the sidewalks and the tree, the poor thing was looking so drab.

Luke Turns 10 Months and A Tennis Play-Off

I forgot to post this amazing video from Kevin's baptism weekend.  Nana and Mimi decided to have a Wii tennis play-off and it was hilarious.  Notice Mimi in the foreground calmly playing not knowing what is going on behind her, watch out for the rath of Nana.
Watch out America's Funniest Home Videos, we have a winner.

This little monkey just turned 10 months, I can't believe it.  He weighed in at 23 lbs.  He is losing some of his chub because he's so active.  When we are at home he NEVER wants to be held.  He only fusses when he's hungry or tired.  When it's either one of those, he'll crawl over to me, climb up my legs, and raise his arms for me to pick him up.  Once he gets his bottle of milk and put to bed, he's a happy little man again.  He's really taken to muslin blankets, he likes to sleep with one cuddled up to him and lately he'll grab it before getting out of the crib and bring it with him, he'll suck and bite on it, but mostly just snuggles it up to his face.  When he has a blanket in his hand he likes to suck his thumb.  He is really so adorable, lovable, happy, and friendly.  Almost daily I find it hard not to squeeze him to death.

On a side note:  When I dropped off Wyatt and Luke at the YMCA kids care, the sitters exclaimed, "We love Wyatt and Luke.  Wyatt is so kind and sweet and Luke is always just so happy."  If it's possible to love these kids anymore than I already do, comments like that from people make it happen.

Snack time!

Last weekend we went to visit a local mission, about a 10 minute drive from home.  I love doing things like that, I forget how awesome this city is, how much there is to do, how much there is to learn, and how much history is here.

Wyatt really loved the bronze statues, he wanted to touch all the people, here he is rubbing Jesus's head helping him feel better.

Luke is such a little monkey, he loves the carrier.  I hope he walks soon and wants to do that, because he is getting heavy.  I tried him on my back and that was better for my back , but I missed his little cuddly, chubby arms wrapped around me.

The bell on the bottom left was cast in Spain and weighs over 700 lbs, the one on the bottom right was cast in the first California bell cast and weighs over 800 lbs.

It was a beautiful day.
