Legoland...We're Back

I took Wyatt up to Legoland last Thursday for a couple of hours.  He had a blast, especially on the "choo choo".

Brace yourself!

He was pretty interested in Bob the Builder too!

On a little boat ride, everything is so fascinating.

On the safari ride checking out the wild animals made of Legos.

He loved looking at the miniature cities, here's New York...

and Las Vegas.

Pop Pop's 71st birthday weekend

Grandpa James (aka Pop Pop) turned 71 on Saturday June 25th and we were glad to be able to celebrate it with him.  It was a beautiful San Diego day so we started off with a trip to the farmer's market in Little Italy, where Wyatt helped carry some onions we purchased.

In the afternoon, we went down to the bay to walk around and we went to see two Japanese Navy ships that were visiting.  Pop Pop was 1 year old when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor.  They have long been our allies but on his birthday it's another example about the amazing changes that a person can see in a lifetime.

That evening we went to a Padres game and had a blast hanging out on the hill in the park and watching the game.

Wyatt went out on the kids' diamond for a little while.  Hey slugger, don't get caught too far off the bag.

Uh oh, it looks like Wyatt wants to wrestle with Mommy a little bit...

...he is a tough one.

I must give Kelly credit on this photo because she told me to snap it and we love it.

Wyatt is either calling his home run shot in this photo (a la Babe Ruth), or saying it's time to go home.  Either way, Happy Birthday Pop Pop, thanks for sharing your day with us.  Look at that smile, I think he had a good day.

We are getting pumped up for the fair this weekend, just thinking of it reminds me of an all time favorite video clip.

On Sunday, we actually didn't make it to the fair because the traffic was crazy, but it was quite fortuitous because it gave us a chance to spend more time with the Kimnachs and my fraternity brother Mark Nevitt who was visiting from DC.  Nevdawg and Barr were a key part of my first San Diego family when I moved here 11 years ago and it was great to spend some time catching up.

Wyatt Gets A Haircut

I got the dreaded scissors out to give Wyatt a mini haircut. Last time I cut his hair, I used the clippers and he had a buzz cut. This time I just decided to give him a trim. He was not thrilled at all. I had to pacify him with jello, his favorite snack right now.

Fathers

Happy Father's Day to my love Kevin, my awesome dad Terry, and my father-in-law James.

Kevin is such a kind, patient, and playful dad to our little man Wyatt. Today in church they sang the song "When Daddy Comes Home." This song fits Wyatt's and Kevin's relationship perfectly.

"I'm so glad when Daddy comes home, as glad as I can be, I clap my hands and jump for joy and climb upon his knee." This is exactly what Wyatt does, he loves his daddy very much.

I love my dad very much too. Thanks Dad for being the voice of reason, for making me want to make you proud, and most of all for teaching me what is right.

Thanks James for raising such a wonderful son and being such a special "pop pop" for Wyatt.

We started our Father's Day weekend with a nice bike trip thru Little Italy where we met up with Pop Pop.

The weekend was gorgeous so we went over to Coronado for some beach time.

Wyatt loves roughhousing (aka clutchbutting), whether on the beach or at home.

On actual Father's Day, after church and a nice lunch at Tio Leo's, my dad and I headed down to the bay while Wyatt was taking a nap.

There were a few "small" yachts that were pretty impressive.

Taking a Trolley Ride

I have been wanting to take Wyatt on the trolley for awhile now. He loves trains, and I knew this would be a fun little adventure for him.

Here he is riding with Pop Pop on the "choo choo". He was so fascinated by everything.

We made it to Old Town, where we grabbed some lunch and hung out in the courtyard.

Wyatt decided to take a break. He was watching the birds and picking flowers, this is a rare moment for him.

This is what he is usually doing. See you later Mommy!

A Day At The County Fair

My friend and I took the boys out for a day at the County Fair in Del Mar. We had a blast! Here is a picture of Wyatt with the goats and the petting zoo area. I think this was his favorite part.

Please don't make me leave Mommy!

After visiting all the animals we headed over to the craziness of Kiddieland. Both Wyatt and Michael were mesmerized by all the sounds and sights.

This "little" train ride, was not so innocent as it appears. Once we got locked in the train set off at record speed and cornered like it was on rails, wait it was! Wyatt just kept raising his hands up in the "all done" sign, but it was the never ending ride. That can't be for kids, no more rides for us.

We finished the day up with a friendly game of squirt the clown, neither Dani nor I won. Bummer.

Wyatt and Daddy Weekend

While Kelly was in Las Vegas hanging out with the girls, Wyatt and Daddy got to hang out and have some fun.  Some nice little photos from a cell phone camera.

I took Friday afternoon off and we headed over to SeaWorld which is always a good time.  We watched the dolphins for a long time.  I think a couple of them might have waived back at Wyatt.

Wyatt's favorite food for the weekend was definitely meatballs, most of which ended up in his mouth, but a fair share on his face and hands.

The weather was gorgeous so we actually headed over to the beach in Coronado both Sat and Sun.

The water is still very cold but he had fun walking right to the edge and then scooting back if a wave got too close.

He had fun playing with someone else's sand castle after they left.  Okay, he pretty much tore it down.

An extra bonus was that one of the Navy Blue Angels jets was in town doing maneuvers with some other jets and they were flying right over our head as they came in to land at North Island NAB.  Wyatt and I absolutely loved the awesome show.

On Sun morning we decided to walk across the I-163 bridge to see the people running the Rock n Roll marathon down below.  I told Wyatt I was thinking about running it sometime in the next 5 years, maybe for my 40th birthday (40, really?).  Hopefully he is too young to remember that.

The roads were closed going into Balboa Park due to the marathon so I had to snap a photo when it was so empty.

We finished up our Sunday adventure at Spanish Landing park and Harbor Island.  Don't worry, he was only on this crazy little jungle gym long enough to catch a photo with the water and the paddleboarders behind him.

Harbor Island is such a nice walk along the bay, with the city in the background and lots of different boats going by, including this beautiful sailboat.  Hey Wyatt, remind me you to tell you about my brief, unimpressive, yet comedic few weeks when I was on a sailing team in San Diego.  Thanks for the great weekend Wyatt.
